Back issue for magazine - l Architecture d'Aujourd'hui 380

l Architecture d'Aujourd'hui 380 Issue 380 of L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, the oldest French architecture magazine founded in 1930 by André Bloc, is a double celebration: the magazine’s 80th anniversary and the first anniversary of its new presentation. To celebrate these two events, L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui 380 devotes its entire INSPIRATIONS column to the history of architecture and of the magazine; a journey back in time, looking back at the key projects of our era published in ‘A’A’. This special anniversary edition has been designed as a meeting place for “starchitects”, such as Frank Gehry and Philippe Starck, and new talents, such as Chinese architect Li Xiaodong, a likely winner of the 2010 Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
In a pause for thought, we also take the time to have an in-depth look at the creation of Shigeru Ban’s Centre Pompidou in Metz. This issue is also a forum for discussion as ‘A’A’ wanted to come back to the question of conservation and Heritage revitalization with OMA and UNESCO. Lastly, many discoveries are in store in the BACK FROM column which looks at the Ruhr, a former industrial region that has become a key European cultural hub.
