PROVENCE SPRING/SUMMER 2019
PROVENCE SPRING/SUMMER 2019 | In 1977, Brazilian-born designer and art director Bea Feitler (1938 – 1982) famously stated, “As for magazines, I think there is a need for a magazine that combines a House & Garden with Vogue, a magazine of elegance and lifestyle.” Refections on printed matter and its formats has been a recurring theme throughout the history of PROVENCE. In the DESIGN section of this issue, Marte Eknæs’s and Nicolau Vergueiro’s contribution “The Power of Print” brings the work of Bea Feitler into focus. Feitler used printed matter as a vessel with which to address and shape social issues through editorial decisions, and is best known for her work with Harper’s Bazaar, Ms. Magazine, Rolling Stone, and the modern Vanity Fair.
