Racquet 7 – The Summer issue 2018 | Cover by Julian Montague
Racquet 7 – Features writing by Jason Biggs, Andrea Petkovic, Rowan Ricardo Philips, Amy Sohn and Ben Rothenberg, with original photography by Ari Marcopoulos and design by Charles Miller, Julian Montague and Dalbert Vilarino.
We’re delighted to unveil the cover of Racquet 7, just in time for the US Open and the full swing of hard-court season. Though nothing compares to the grass, and we love a good clay-court grind, the reality is that most of our tennis dreams (and nightmares) happen on good old American hard courts. And what better way to celebrate them than with an ode to public tennis courts—starting with a civic-flavored cover by Julian Montague.
Our issue also includes a portfolio by celebrated photographer Ari Marcopolous, and our debut essay by actor Jason Biggs, who became obsessed with Andre Agassi, planes, and especially Andre Agassi’s plane.
Our roving cultural attaché Andrea Petkovic tackles true love on the tennis court vis-à-vis the writing of Philip Roth, poet Rowan Ricardo Phillips takes on the plight of David Goffin, and contributing editor Ben Rothenberg exposes the high-risk world of courtsiders. Plus, a look at Nick Bollittieri you won’t want to miss.
Racquet has been commended as the Subscriber’s Choice with the Stack Award 2017.
