Upstate Diary 13 celebrates diversity, homes, and creators we love, and the embracing of new ideas! Since the start of the panademic, thousands of people have relocated from cities to live and work remotely. Thus, UPSTATE DIARY’s concept is more relevant than ever: creative lifestyles close to nature.

New Mother Earth issue no. 13 is featuring:

Marcel Breuer: A house of stone and stucco creates a modernist framework for a collection of Italian art and Design from the 60s and 70s. UPSTATE DIARY visits Ronnie Sassoon and her partner James Crump in their amazing home to talk about their most recent documentary Breuer’s Bohemia.

Art Director Richard Pandiscio and his partner photographer Todd Eberle purchased the Peter Eisenman House VI. Little did they know that with it came a historic cider apple orchard. Pandiscio is in the process of documenting hundreds of apple trees in a rather obsessive manner.

With the recent influx of people leaving the cities for a new kind of lifestyle in the countryside, UD features the latest crop of country bumpkins an eclectic mix of trend setters from the city checking out what their new life in countryside has to offer. Never-ending yard sales, apple picking (try that in high heels), nights around the bonfires amongst the wild animals and some unforgettable times in the saddle.

Rachel Pollack: This tarot scholar famously advised Artist Niki de Saint Phalle—subject of a recent survey at MOMA PS1—during the building of her extraordinary Tarot sculpture garden in the Tuscan country. Pollack has collaborated with artists on of a number of decks since she first designed her own—the magical Shining Tribe Tarot back in the 90s. She also wrote the first exposition on the Salvador Dali Taro.

And iconic Maggie Hambling; design maven Murray Moss; George Nakashima; Leo Koenig; Jeffrey Gibson; and many more!

Upstate Diary features amazing artists and creators with lifestyles close to nature. Come on inside and look at country living in a whole new way! Dive in & be inspired!
